Howard Beach Maternity Session

I was so excited when I heard that Stacy was pregnant with her 3rd child. You might remember Stacy’s children, Julia and Danny; I’ve photographed them numerous times in the past. We all got together for a fun maternity session.

Well, almost. It was actually People.com the magazine’s online publication. I put this on my Facebook page, but forgot to show it here for those who don’t use Facebook. Kristina + Scott: Engaged!

I had an great time shooting my friend Kristina and her fiance Scott last Friday. You might recognize her as the traffic reporter on PIX Morning News. It was a pretty day, but the wind made it a bit chilly. Nevertheless, we still captured some great moments to celebrate their engagement.

Giving is Awesome.. the tour!

Giving is Awesome was founded in December of 2008. It was a simple premise: photographers give a portrait shoot and products to a family who deserves it, but can’t afford it. In the twelve weeks since then, over 530 photographers have donated over $550,000 worth of custom portraiture to families who couldn’t afford it. Artists in places as far flung as Australia, the Philippines, the United Kingdom, and Mexico joined in. Giving is Awesome is also featured in this month’s issue of Professional Photographer magazine, and we’re looking to continue to spread the word about giving. Lenovo and Microsoft are sponsoring the ‘Name Your Dream Assignment’ contest, which grants $50,000 to the photographer who wins to shoot whatever/wherever they would like.

What better way to spread the word than to load 12 photographers into a tour bus and hit up cities with Giving is Awesome shoots? The blog traffic generated by the tour would easily reach 50,000 photographers per day, thus multiplying the number of photographers who sign on for the 2009 version of Giving is Awesome. (The goal: 15,000 photographers for the 2009 edition.)

…but how would we decide who to shoot for those tour bus Giving is Awesome giveaways? Why, we would rely on our friends at ConKerr Cancer, an international charity, to provide our subjects: children currently living with cancer. We’d be bringing awareness of both utterly smashing organizations to light, spreading the photographic love, AND rockin’ a tour bus! Now we’re talkin’!

What if this project doesn’t cost $50,000? Easy! ConKerr Cancer receives the funds to purchase cameras for their chapter coordinators, less the expenses of the tour. This allows the impact of the tour to go much further than the people on the bus, or even the photographers associated with Giving is Awesome. It’s the ripple effect in its truest form, giving sparking giving sparking giving.

For more information about the organizations mentioned: www.givingisawesome.com & www.conkerrcancer.org

Elissa + Brian: Married!

I had he immese pleasure to shoot for not one but two good friends whom both are photographers as well. I’ve know Brian for over 4 years and worked with him on numerous occasions. When they asked me to shoot their wedding, I was honored and nervous too. There’s a lot of pressure knowing you’re shooting a wedding for people who also do this for a living! The wedding was held at the Grandview in Poughkeepsie, NY the last weekend in Februrary. Oh yeah, that also meant it was darn cold! But we were all troopers and pulled out some great moments with them!

Viva Las Vegas!

We’re on the road in Vegas for WPPI’s HUGE Tradeshow and Convention at the MGM Grand. We’ll be back in the office on Monday, February 23rd.
Although we’ll be checking our email and phone as often as we can, we may not be able to get back to you as soon as we’d like.

If you’re a photographer, come visit me at the Shootsac booth number 1454 and say hi!

Here’s the view from our room on the 22nd floor at MGM Grand… Pretty nice!

On the road again… continued

I just wanted to share what I woke up to this morning. Taken with my iPhone. A beautiful morning in Marina Del Ray, California.

On the road again…

I left today to travel out to the west coast – I’ve been asked to represent again with my good friends at Shootsac at the WPPI Convention and Trade Show in Las Vegas this week. So I’m here in California now, getting stuff ready for the drive to Las Vegas to begin setup tomorrow at the MGM Grand Hotel, where the trade show is taking place.

We’ll be heading back to California for a few days after the show for some portrait sessions.

If you are a California client interested in meeting with me regarding your wedding or a client interested in booking a portrait session for a reduced session fee of $100, I am available from February 19-21.

Published in Steppin’ Out Magazine!

Every photographer enjoys seeing his or her work published. It’s really a great feeling – both humbling and thrilling. So, when my good friend Jill (a TV Traffic Reporter  for WPIX in NY) found out that she was going to be featured in the magazine, she called me to be her photographer. Thank you Jill! So you can pick up Steppin’ Out magazine at various newsstands in NY and NJ and you can read it online too!
